RCom to launch IPTV service in Mumbai, Delhi in next 3 months
Mumbai, May 9 (PTI) Mobile service provider Reliance Communications (RCom) plans to launch its much-awaited Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service in Delhi and Mumbai in the next three months, a top company official has said.

"We plan to start our proposed IPTV service initially in Delhi and Mumbai in the next three months. In the second phase, we also have plans to introduce it in six other cities," RCom's chief executive officer (DTH and IPTV) Sanjay Behl told PTI here.

IPTV operates on video signals received via the Net using a set-top box that will make TV viewing more interactive, Behl said.

Moreover, IPTV will offer the largest library of national, international and regional video content, such as, movies and music, among others. Besides, customers can have a choice of over hundred TV channels, including high definition (HD) channels and exclusive Reliance channels, Behl said.

IPTV seems to have advance usage and soon Dth players will be competing with IPTV as the recent growth of DTH is more dynamic with launch of HD & DVR soon to be followed by IPTV.
