9.8 inch rechargeable LCD TV with DVD/USB/SD Card/FM, Solar Ready

Dear friends,

I have a SOLID HDS2-2100 set-top box which is powered by batteries/solar cells. So now I wanted a compact tv which would work atleast 3 hours on battery and side by side could be used as a CCTV monitor as well as instant source of entertainment by digital cable/DTH.

I got this 9.8 inch rechargeable LCD TV with Analog TV/DVD/USB/SD Card/FM, Solar Ready and it works on a 9 Volts DC adapter (charger) with built-in 3000mAh Lithium-ion battery used in tablet pc. The LCD panel is high-grade, IPS and electronic components are of good quality. The dealer gave me one-year warranty and servicing is done there itself by trained representative. Price is Rs2350 inclusive of all taxes for walk-in shop purchase in South Mumbai.

When taken outdoors, DD National (VHF 230MHz-237MHz) and DD News (VHF 180MHz-187MHz) can be received by whip antenna provided in the package. For better reception of terrestrial channels, one can use a one meter long telescopic antenna.

Timings:
Full recharge time = 2 hours with 9 Volts, 1.5 Amps adapter.
Watching DVD/CD/USB on battery = approx 3 hours.
Watching only TV/DTH on batt = approx 3.5 hours.

Screen Resolution: WVGA (800 X 480 pixels), Aspect Ratio: 16:9
TV Tuner: PAL, NTSC, SECAM
Power Input: 9 Volts, 1.5 Amperes
Power Consumption: 13 Watts

Great backup time provided by the TV battery. Very happy with the picture, sound quality.
I have connected the 9.8 inch LCD TV to CCTV audio-video so that I can have a quick look at visitors.
Also along with my laptop I can view different channels with dual outputs (AV+RF) from DD Direct Plus stb and Hathw@y Digital Cable stb on it with quick changeover switches.

@Vinay,

Yesterday I inquired about this product in SP Road, Bangalore. The price they mentioned is Rs.2,500. The model name I forget, but it looks same like yours.

Have the price been increased now. Is it worth to buy it for satellite trackers like us.

Yes Sathish, the price differs from place to place and even online shops. There are many brands like Sonilex, Nishica, Pushbrite to name a few.

Here there are two variants available one is 7.8 inch screen costs Rs1500 and the one which i have is 9.8 inch one costing Rs2300+

Yes for satellite trackers its a very handy and useful tool, since coupled with a DVB-S2 HD STB like Solid HDS2-2100, one can actually view the channels along with signal quality indicator on helping in fine tuning in an effortless manner.

I have made a Satellite Finder contraption using this TV and old STB. Will post it in another thread.

This is the box of the LCD TV. Now I have changed the wiring of TV, STB and CCTV cameras. So TV+STB+Cameras all are powered 24X7 by Solar Inverter without AC mains supply.
