ATI Linux Video Driver 9.7 Has Support for RedFlag DT 7.0

Advanced Micro Devices announced on July 23rd a new version of their popular ATI Catalyst proprietary Linux display driver, for both x86 and x86_64 architectures. With version 9.7, the ATI Catalyst suite updates the software to version 8.632 and brings support for the RedFlag DT 7.0, a Chinese Linux distribution. Without further introduction, here are the improvements and bug fixes for ATI Catalyst 9.7:

· For Ubuntu 9.04, a segmentation fault when Xinerama was enabled was fixed;
· Fixed the X.Org server for Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) when the xrandr --prop was executed;
· Fixed an X.Org server segmentation fault when applying rotations or reflections on various machines that have support Xrandr 1.2 or later;
· Fixed a screen corruption in Catalyst Control Center, in the clone mode, if a secondary display was hot plugged;
· Fixed X.Org server startup issues with some multi-adapter configurations;
· When the system is standby mode, the monitors are now disabled if the secondary display was removed;
· For systems with a multi-monitor configurations, when one of the displays was disabled, the other one no longer enters in a disabled state too;
· On various machines, CrossFire adapters are reported as available during the re-installation of the driver.

Requirements:

· X.Org 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 or 7.4
· Linux kernel 2.6 or higher
· glibc version 2.2 or 2.3
· Support for POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) is necessary for 3D programs
· The following packages should be installed on your system: XFree86-Mesa-libGL, libstdc++, libgcc, XFree86-libs, fontconfig, freetype and zlib.

Supported operating systems:

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux
· Novell SUSE Enterprise Linux
· Ubuntu Linux
