Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched interactive personalised television and video (IPTV) service in the city. The service, which may give DTH service a run for its money, was launched in association with Smart Digivision Pvt Ltd, under its ‘MyWay’ brand. The service will be launched in Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara in the coming months.
Using a broadband connection and fixed line from BSNL and a MyWay set top box, BSNL customers can easily connect to a set of interactive personalised features via their home television, said Surendra Lunia of Smart Digivision, a Haryana-based company. The service is available to BSNL customers in 54 cities.
“While DTH and cable are limited to broadcast services, MyWay IPTV service will take entertainment to the next level with video, music, education and games on demand, besides parental control and interactive user interface,” Lunia said. He added that with a current BSNL subscriber base of 4.95 lakh, they see Ahmedabad as “the fastest growing market”.
Satya Pal, chief general manager of BSNL, Gujarat Circle, said: “With its unique two-way capability, IPTV is generations ahead of currently available cable and DTH services. We are excited about the choice, variety and flexibility that our customers will get, besides a great viewing experience.”
MyWay IPTV will be made available against an upfront payment of Rs 2,000 for set top box.
