After launching the services in the country in Feb.
State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) will launch third generation (3G) mobile services in Gangtok by Aug. 15.
The 3G services would be extended to three more districts in the state within 100 days of its launch. According to BSNL's spokesperson, the traffic congestion in mobile services in the state would be removed by the launch.
3G services allow telecom operators to offer high-speed Internet and video calls on mobile phones. BSNL will also increase the strength of its Internet broadband services and all 26 blocks in the state would get connected by broadband within 100 days.
BSNL launched its 3G services in the country in February. The company plans to offer the service across India in the coming months.
