Doug Bollinger was picked in Australia's squad for the opening Test against West Indies in place of Stuart Clark, when the selectors named a 12-man squad. Bollinger has played just one Test match so far, and is in contention to play his second.

Both Clark and Bollinger represent New South Wales, and their swap is the only change the selectors made to the side that lost the fifth Ashes Test against England in August.

The openers will continue to be the newly promoted Shane Watson and Simon Katich, with captain Ricky Ponting coming in at No.3.

Mike Hussey has retained his place, being saved by his excellent ODI form and his fighting century in the final Test against England at the Oval.

Vice captain Michael Clarke has also been named in the squad, thus banishing doubts about his fitness. Clarke recently scored a century for New South Wales against Tasmania.

Also back from injury - though not as serious as Clarke's was - is pacer Peter Siddle. He will form the bowling attacck alongwith Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus, Bollinger and spinner Nathan Hauritz.

The selectors have largely maintained faith in the Ashes squad, with chairman Andrew Hilditch admitting they already have one eye on the return battle for the Ashes in Australia in 12 months' time.

"The squad includes only one change from the side which played the last Test of the Ashes series in England," said Hilditch.

"Stuart (Clark) is extremely unlucky to miss selection but we have been very impressed with Doug's (Bollinger's) form in the recent ODI series in India and feel he deserves this opportunity in the Australian squad."

"Losing the Ashes was obviously extremely disappointing but the nucleus of the side performed very well individually."

"We're confident this young side will continue to develop as we move into this exciting Test series at home but also continue to prepare for an Ashes series, which is now only 12 months away."
