Breaking News : Govt grants regulatory approval for Nextbit Robin to be sold in India

#1
It been quite some time since Nextbit launched its Robin smartphone internationally. So it is a bit strange as to why the smartphone took so long to get to India. Turns out the company was held back thanks to a couple of approvals, and the same was granted today. So will Nextbit soon announce a launch date for its cloud-based smartphone?

Well, turns out the company has made it official that even though it has got the necessary regulatory approvals, there is “no general sale yet”. This means that there is still some time till we hear from Nextbit about the open sale of its much talked about Robin smartphone in India. The company had announced earlier, that it was to launch the Robin with unlimited cloud storage by April-end. Still then, those who ordered the same through Kickstarter will begin receiving their handsets in the coming weeks.

Big news, India. We received regulatory approval! Robins from Kickstarter will ship next week. No general sale yet.

Nextbit is a company that was formed by former employees of HTC, Google and Apple. Now, the highlight of this device is unlimited storage, but that means one can access cloud storage once the 32GB on-board storage runs out. It will start freeing up space on the device by offloading your content to the 100GB cloud storage allotted to the handset.

The device looks pretty neat in a rectangular form factor. Some other specs include 5.2-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 2,680mAh battery and 13-megapixel rear snapper. It also includes USB Type-C charging port and fingerprint scanner.
