Xiaomi has finally launched its gargantuan Mi Max in India. With a 6.44-inch display, the Mi Max tests the boundaries of what classifies as a smartphone and blurs the lines between a smartphone and a phablet. The Xiaomi Mi Max starts from Rs 14,999 for the base 32GB internal storage, 3GB RAM and Snapdragon 650 processor and will go up to Rs 19,999 for the top-of-the-line 128GB internal storage, 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 652 processor.

The overall features of the Mi Max are the same as the Redmi Note 3 . The phablet also comes with a metal unibody design with a fingerprint scanner at the rear. It is just 7.5mm thin and weighs 203 grams, which is considered very heavy for a smartphone but feels well balanced for a big phablet like the Mi Max. Let’s take a look at the features and specifications of the Mi Max.

Xiaomi has also announced a special offer for Mi Max users. Xiaomi has partnered Hungama to offer 3 months of Hungama movies for free and one year of Hungama Music.

Xiaomi Mi Max specifications and features:

The phablet is equipped with a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display on top of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood the phablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor which includes two Cortex A72 cores and four Cortex A53 cores paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. There two other variants, both of which are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 SoC that comes with four Cortex A72 and four Cortex A53 cores. One variant is paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage while the top-of-the-line Mi Max variant comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. A microSD card slot for further expansion is also available. Both the Snapdragon 652 and 650 come with Qualcomm’s Adreno 510 GPU but the two additional powerful Cortex A72 cores in the Snapdragon 652 gives it an edge in terms of performance.

On the photography front, the Mi Max is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 along with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. Up front, there is a 5-megpaixel camera with beautify 85-degrees wide-angle selfie camera for photos and video calling. The Mi Max is equipped with a 4,850mAh battery, which the company says is decent enough to offer full day talktime and lasts 20 percent more than the Redmi Note 3. It also includes Qualcomm’s Quick Charge support to quickly charge the device. In terms of connectivity, the Mi Max features 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and Bluetooth. The Mi Max runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will soon receive MIUI 8.

Xiaomi Mi Max price :

The entry-level Mi Max with 32GB internal storage and 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 14,999. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 652 powered Mi Max with 128GB storage and 4GB of RAM costs Rs 19,999. The smartphone is available in silver, gold and dark grey color variants.
