BSNL will provide video calling from landline phones
Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited (BSNL) in partnership with SIS Infosystem has planned to launch video calling facility for the landline users.
BSNL will upgrade its offerings for landline phones by offering the extra service of video call facility. In reference to this RK Upadhay (BSNL Chairman and MD) said that this step to upgrade services would boost revenue for the company. Along with this the video calling services on landline phones would also nullify the need for Computers.
Following which the Public Call Offices (PCOs) will be changed to Video Call Offices (VCOs) with these phones. For Rs 3, one can make a video call for 45 seconds, and the total bill will include a 30% commission for the franchise. As for expansion plans, there are 770 PCO booths which will convert to VCO booths soon, and the future target lies to set up 10,000 of these special booths.
BSNL will provide various categories of VCO franchisees based on the services that a franchisee owner wants to provide. SIS officials said that people looking for franchisee will have to pay for VCO devices which starts from Rs. 25,000 and will have to sign an agreement for the business.
