Colors has acquired the five-year exclusive telecast rights of Yash Raj Films’ latest release Lafangey Parindey.

This is the first time Colors has got the rights of a YRF movie. Sony Entertainment Television (Set) has got the entire bunch of YRF films.

The deal with YRF also included an integration
of the movie with Colors’ popular show, India’s Got Talent (IGT). As part of the unique branding initiative, IGT is integral to the film’s script where the protagonists (Neil Nitin Mukesh & Deepika Padukone) are seen participating in the show.

As a part of the publicity of the film, the release of which is timed with the latest season of IGT Khoj 2, Mukesh and Padukone also make multiple appearances on the show on Colors.

Viacom18 Group CCO and head international business Gaurav Gandhi said, “Colors has always been a trend-setter in bridging the gap between the two screens with its impressive bank of latest blockbusters. With this YRF association, we have taken a step further in bringing together properties which share a common theme - of identifying and encouraging the real Indian talent”

Colors, which is planning to launch a Hindi movie channel, has spent close to Rs 2.5 billion in acquiring the exclusive telecast rights of the latest and yet-to-release movies (30 films).

The channel has started the trend of reducing the window between theatrical release and television premiere of movies with Blue, Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani, Kites and recently Raavan.

Some of the films that Colors has bagged include films from banners such as Reliance Big Pictures, UTV Motion Pictures, PVR, Balaji Telefilms among others.

The line up includes upcoming movies like Dabbang, Saat Khoon Maaf, Guzaarish, Golmaal 3, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Tees Mar Khan, Thank You, Patiala House and No One Killed Jessica.

The channel has snapped up rights for smaller budget films like Udaan, Tum Mile, Lamha, Paan Singh Tomar, Mad Madder Maddest and PhilumCity.

Among the already released films that Colors will be airing soon are Aaisha and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.
