NEW DELHI: Ambika Soni, who assumed charge as Information and Broadcasting Minister today, has set out her priorities: content code for news broadcasters, examining the demands of print as well as electronic media, and ensuring wide coverage of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Speaking to the press after assuming the charge officially, Soni promised to take up all issues relating to the media industry in a transparent manner.
“We will speak to all the stakeholders concerned on various aspects of the media industry. Anything related to the media will be made known in a transparent manner. We will try to bring a harmonious working relationship to the benefit and advantage of all,” said Soni.
Meanwhile, on the issue related to controversies associated with pubcaster Prasar Bharati, Soni maintained that she would wait for the meeting of the Prasar Bharati Board before commenting on the imbroglio between CEO BS Lalli and Arun Bhatnagar who has tendered his resignation as Chairman. She said she would refrain from commenting on the issue as the matter is sub judice.
Soni was accompanied in the meet by her two MoS. While Jatua is an ex-IPS officer, Dr. S Jagathrakshakan is a second time Member Parliament, having been a member in the 13th Lok Sabha.
