DTH News : ESS to simulcast WC matches, Star Sports to offer Hindi feed

MUMBAI: ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has decided to simulcast several ICC cricket World Cup matches across its channels.

Star Sports will show 37 matches in Hindi commentary for the benefit of Hindi speaking audiences. The World Cup, which kicks off on 19 February, will have a total of 49 matches.

ESS said Friday it will show live India's preparatory matches and the Opening Ceremony on 19 February across its three channels - ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket.

ESS will kick off its broadcast of the World Cup by airing India's preparatory matches against Australia and New Zealand as the team in blue gets ready for the ultimate battle in Cricket supremacy. India takes on Australia on 13 February, while the New Zealand-India encounter is scheduled for 16 February.

The pre- and post-match shows will be hosted by ex-players, while live broadcast will feature as many as 30 commentators and studio experts from leading participating countries.

  • England - David Lloyd, Michael Atherton, Ian Botham, Nasser Hussain, Mark Nicholas, Alan Wilkins

  • New Zealand - Simon Doull, Danny Morrison
  • West Indies - Ian Bishop, Tony Cozier
  • Sri Lanka - Russel Arnold
  • Zimbabwe - Alistair Campbell, Pommie Mbangwa
  • South Africa - Pat Symcox, Robin Jackman ,Lance Klusener
  • Australia - Ian Chappell, Tony Greig, Tom Moody
  • Bangladesh - Athar Ali Khan, Shamim Chowdhury
Harsha Bhogle, Dermot Reeve and Simon Hughes will be based exclusively out of the studio.
