After disrupting the telecom sector, Reliance Jio is all set to foray in the broadband through fibre and DTH services as well. The company has quietly listed its home broadband and Jio Link on its website, which could mean that the brand will you soon launch these services.

Sources familiar with the development have said to The Mobile Indian, " Jio is currently testing the Fibre to Home network and DTH services and will make an official announcement related to its commercial launch pretty soon."

To recall, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Ltd, said during the annual general meeting that it is committed to launching FTTH (fibre to the home) service, which would be capable of delivering a broadband speed up to 1Gbps.

The company introduced this service on January 13, 2017 but only in Mumbai and was offered as a beta service. To give you an idea, Reliance Jio Giga fibre broadband plan will offer you 50 Mbps speed for up to 2000GB of data at Rs 1500 per month. This is one of the plans from the upcoming broadband services from Reliance Jio.

Coming to the DTH services, the company is destined to come up with its own set-top-box as well. Recently, there were a bunch of image leaks of a set top box with Reliance Jio branding on it has surfaced on websites like Candytech and DTH forums. The image shows a normal looking set top box with Jio branding and a ‘not for sale’ sign.

Reliance Jio has totally disrupted the telecom space in India after it was commercially launched in India in September last year. The company introduced different promotional offers including Jio Welcome offer, which provided free internet and calls. The company then introduced Jio Happy New Year offer, which is supposed to end on March 31st. The company has also introduced Prime membership, through which Prime members will get a host of interesting deals. True to its word, the company introduced a Jio Summer Surprise Offer under which the company was offering another three months of free services for Rs 303.However, TRAI directed the company to drop this offer.

The telecom operator also claims that it has transitioned 72 million subscribers to Prime already making it the “the largest migration from free to paid services in history in such a short period of time.” Reliance Jio, though, does face some issues regarding call drops, people seem to incline towards the infant player.
