Sick and tired of telecom operators taking you for a ride? Want to complain about a grievance but don't know where to go?
In order to the fill the void of 'no system' that safeguards the interests of customers, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning to (sooner or later) set up a grievance monitoring system meant to ensure that telecom related complaints in the country do not remain unaddressed and are with suitable solutions, reports Business Standard.
According to the report, the grievance monitoring system will be formed in consultation with service providers; it will be formulated to protect the interests of the consumer. However, this system again not likely to be a mandate, it'll be in the form of suggestions which TRAI will ask operators to follow.
Apparently, TRAI is also considering introducing portability in the direct-to-home (DTH) services sector, similar to mobile portability.
Currently, when a DTH subscriber shifts from one service provider to another, he pays the installation charges each time - this is a problem. Introduction of DTH portability, like mobile portability, will give a subscriber the freedom to shift from one provider to another.
Other issues like tariff for cable TV services will also be dealt with for a proper solution
