DTH industry Will be boosted By Fall in equipment prices

Competition has become fierce since the entry of three new players, including Bharti. Other players in the market include Tata Sky, Dish TV, Reliance Big TV, Sun TV besides digital cable. There has been a sharp decline in one-time costs that subscribers have to bear, as monthly subscription plans have regulated price ceilings.

Once there were speculations that HD STB will cost too much with initial launches at around Rs.10,000/- but now HD are available at a cost of Rs.2599/- there has been a drastic drop in the rate of STBs.
