Mumbai, November 29, 2010: Are you looking for reliable automotive advice or latest information on technological advances in concept cars? Discovery Turbo presents a whirlwind of automobile news, top trends, vehicle reviews and investigative reports in its new series FIFTH GEAR. Premiering every Monday at 9 pm from November 29, a team of experts will test drive the latest, most talked-about automobiles from around the world and share with viewers interesting information any motor enthusiast would expect from this informative series.

Commenting on the series, Rahul Johri, senior vice president & general manager, India, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific said “FIFTH GEAR and its panel of fast and furious experts provide viewers with the most current information in the motoring world. This series promises more facts than ever before about the new cars using a mix of stunts and challenges that push cars and presenters to their limits. A fantastic series, it is bound to entertain all the speed enthusiasts in the most dynamic way.”

Join the team of experts, Tiff, Vicki, Adrian, Quentin and Tom, as they lend their advice to the viewers. From super cars and sports utility vehicles to hatchbacks and hybrids, these experts review some of the recently launched cars and analyse second hand bargains. They also express their viewpoints on a variety of driving issues involving road safety and taxation while dishing out practical and reliable advice.

From test driving the new Mini Cooper S and examining the trend among celebrities to purchase large SUVs to profiling the new Lamborghini Murcielago, this series is for anyone who has a passion for petrol power. The programme looks back over the years and brings together the top ten supercars including the Pagani Zonda C12S, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Mclaren F1, Aston Martin DBS, Corvette Z06, Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Mclaren Mercedes SLR, Ford GT and the fastest road car in the world - the Bugatti Veyron. Going a step back, the show also provides an exclusive insight into the incredible factories where these cars are built - the sort of access which is off limits to the public. Places like the McLaren Technology Centre and the French chateau where the Bugatti Veyron is assembled.

In the series, the team test drive eco-friendly cars like the G-Wizz electric car and Lotus’ bio-fuel powered Exige 265E. They also take a spin on the world’s most powerful production motorbike, the Kawazaki ZZR1400 and create a new World Land Speed Record for driving a car powered only by chip fat oil. FIFTH GEAR has some adrenaline pumping exhibits like driving a car on two wheels, learning how to park in an impossibly small gap using a handbrake turn and making a James Bond ejector seat.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM EPISODES:

• Tiff Needell and Vicki Butler-Henderson are shocked at how easily a 4x4 will roll over in an emergency avoidance maneuver they stage with real cars and a stunt man. Then they indulge in test driving some of the most exciting cars of the year, including the Pagani Zonda. Tiff explores the new Renault Clio V6 -- a tiny car with an enormous engine.
• Tiff Needell tests the new Lamborghini Murcielago and finds it slightly less inspiring than previous Lamborghini models. Quentin Wilson examines prices of classic cars and Vicki Butler-Henderson meets a man who has spent quite a bit to make his Nissan Sunny the fastest of its kind.
• Tiff Needell tests the latest car to join the exclusive club of road cars capable of going over 200 miles per hour -- the new McLaren Mercedes SLR. Jason Plato reports on the new Ford Focus. Vicki Butler-Henderson reports on the latest assault on the pocket of the beleaguered British motorist. Tom Ford tests Land Rover’s new third generation Discovery.

• Explore Tiff Needell’s and Adrian Simpson’s journey to the secret laboratory that the world's leading car armor company uses for weapons testing. They also race an armored Range Rover. The Aston Martin DB7 is one of the world's most beautiful cars, but will Tiff Needell find the new GT version appealing? Also Tom Ford travels to Iceland and cruises up the Europe's biggest glacier in a Toyota Landcruiser.
