NDTV Imagine's unique show on past life regression, Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka will be winding up this Friday, on 8th January. And with this, the vacant one hour slot will be taken over by two new fiction shows.

According to our source, "Do Hanson Ka Joda, produced by Rajshri Production will launch on January 18th at the 9.30 PM slot, while Shakuntalam Telefilms' Devi, based on a real life story will launch on the same day at the 10 PM slot".

"Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka's overall good response might force the channel to come up with a Season Two sooner or later. But as of now, the channel is looking forward to launching their next two promising fiction shows", adds our source.

Producer Kavita Barjatya confirmed that her show Do Hanson Ka Joda launches on 18th January at the 9.30 PM slot.

When contacted Producer of Devi, Shyamashis Bhattacharya said, "I have no clue about the time slot I will be getting. I have not got any confirmation from the channel. All I can say is that I will be happy with whatever time I get".

Do Hanson Ka Joda has Shaleen Bhanot, Shubangi Atre, Ali Merchant, Nupur Joshi, Vineet Raina as the principal cast. The show talks about the manner in which dream and reality can be very much different.

Devi is the tale of a girl who is considered divine from the day she is born. As reported earlier, Nimay Bali and Hemant Pandey are the known faces in the show.

Produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms Ltd, Imagine’s new show Devi, is based on a true-life incident and brings to light the superstitions prevailing in rural India.

Devi is the story of a young innocent girl child, Laxmi, who gets branded as the reincarnation of a Goddess. Laxmi is born to an extremely poor family in a drought stricken village, craving for rain. Her father, who is in no position to feed her, decides to abandon her in the village temple. However, at that very moment, the rain gods smile on the village and the 3-year long drought is broken. Laxmi is proclaimed to be the bearer of this good fortune and is bestowed the status of a Goddess. While she receives special care and attention, she is also forced to lead an abnormal life, very different from a regular girl her age. The story traces Devi’s exploitation at the hands of the village, entrenched in blind faith and superstition.

Announcing the show, Shailja Kejriwal, EVP-Content Imagine says, “Television today is in many ways a reflection of what is happening in our society. Devi is one such compelling story, which is based on a real life incident and brings to light the superstitions that plague rural India even today. It is a captivating story and will be a real eye opener for our viewers.”

Will Laxmi ever be allowed to lead a normal life or will she forced to carry the burden of being a DEVI? Watch Devi starting January 2010 only on Imagine.

She has an image of that ideal guy, with whom her life will turn out to be a perfect fairytale. But do these dreams always come true? What happens when these dreams meet the reality of life?

Rajshri Productions and Imagine come together to find the answer and re-create the magic on the small screen yet again with Do Hanson Ka Jodaa that premieres in January 2010 only on Imagine.

Do Hanson Ka Jodaa is the story of Preeti, a young girl who always dreamt of a marriage like they show in the movies – ‘picture perfect’! But destiny has other plans for her. She finds herself married to Suryakamal, an ordinary looking middle-class man. He is not in any way like the image of her Mr. Perfect that she had always dreamt of. The show traces Preeti’s journey as she struggles to adjust to this new reality in her life. Will she be able to accept Suryakamal’s shortcomings and find love? Or will she continue the search for the man of her dreams?

The main protagonist Preeti will be played by the mesmerizing Shubhangi Atre and the dashing Shaleen Bhanot will be seen in a different avatar essaying the character of her husband Suryakamal. Reema Lagoo returns to the small screen after a 2 year hiatus as Shubhangi’s mother, Snehalata. Ali Merchant, Nupur Joshi, Naveen Sen, Praneeta Sahu, Kuldeep Mallick and Pritvi Zutshi amongst others are also part of the magnificent star cast.

Commenting on Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Shailja Kejriwal, EVP - Content, Imagine said, “Our association with the Barjatya’s has always been special. We had a very good run with their first show on Imagine Main Teri Parchhain Hoon! What makes Do Hanson Ka Jodaa stand apart is the simplicity of the narrative. It’s uniquely told and somewhere will strike a chord with all of us as we all have met a Preeti & Suryakamal in our lives”.

Adds Kavita Batjatya, TV Division Producer, Rajshri Productions, “ This is our second show on Imagine and the bond has emerged stronger. Do Hanson Ka Jodaa is a story or a situation we all have been through in our lives... It sometimes seems that two individuals who have come together are so different so unlike, but as time goes by we realise that these two individuals have come together or have been destined to come together to complete and fulfill each other. This is Preeti’s story who dreams of life just like it happens in the movies so beautiful… so perfect. But how life brings to her the partner Suryakamal who is opposite of her dreams, but who is a hero in real life.”

Join Preeti & Suryakamal as they embark on this journey of marriage. Watch Do Hanson Ka Jodaa starting January 2010 only on Imagine.
