MUMBAI: Four multi-system operators (MSOs) have joined Time Warner Cable to promote interactive television (ITV) application development for digital cable.
The MSOs include Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, and Liberty Global.
"To attract developers to the EBIF & Tru2Way (OCAP) platforms, we needed to build bridges with several key stakeholders in the MSO, vendor, programmer, advertiser and university communities," says Time Warner senior director - advanced video strategy and founder of OEDN Will Kreth.
OEDN aims to drive awareness using the two primary interactive cable television open standards for middleware: OCAP (known to consumers as tru2way) and EBIF.
"The support from these four cable MSOs validates our charter and ongoing mission for developing ITV applications for digital cable, and to test those applications in the hands of a new generation of software development talent," Kreth adds.
OEDN has been working with several ITV companies to provide students to develop & test ITV applications using industry standard tools.
