GEC Watch: STAR Plus back at No. 1

After slipping to No. 2 in Week 29, STAR Plus has reclaimed the No. 1 spot this week. However, the channel saw a marginal dip of 5 GRPs, from 293 GRPs last week to 288 this time. Its relative channel share has increased to 22 per cent, from 21 per cent last week.

As per TAM Media Research data for C&S 4+, HSM, Colors, which was the numero uno last week, has slipped to No. 2, with a decrease of 41 GRPs, from 308 in Week 29 to 267 in Week 30. The channel's relative share in the general entertainment pie dropped from 22 per cent last week to 21 per cent in Week 30.

Zee TV, with 256 GRPs, continues at No. 3, though it has 10 GRPs less than in Week 29.

With a relative share of 11 per cent, NDTV Imagine went up a position to No. 4, while its GRPs remained constant at 138.

For Sony, however, the new reality show, Iss Jungle se Mujhe Bachao, couldn't help much. The channel, which was at No. 4 last week, slipped down to No. 5 in Week 30. Its GRPs fell from 142 to 121 in this period.

SAB, at No. 6, managed to increase its relative channel share, from 4 per cent in Week 29 to 5 per cent in Week 30. It garnered 69 GRPs this week, as compared to 59 last week.

STAR One with 4 per cent channel share held on to No. 7. It was followed by Sahara One and STAR Utsav, with 2 per cent channel share each.

DD1 with 25 GRPs was at No. 10, followed by 9X that managed to get 17 GRPs. At the end of the rung was Real, with a total of 9 GRPs.

Coming to the 10 most watched programmes on Hindi GECs, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on STAR Plus, garnered a TVR of 8.08 and remained the most watched show. Bidaai, another show on the same channel, was at No. 2, with a TVR of 6.2. Balika Vadhu on Colors slipped from No. 2 to No. 3, and recorded a TVR of 5.7.

The controversial show, Sach Ka Samna is going strong for STAR Plus. In its second week itself, the show attracted a TVR of 5.24. Next in the fray was Uttaran on Colors, which commanded a TVR of 4.74.

Other shows in the Top 10 list are: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs-09, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Pavitra Rishta, Chhoti Bahu and Na Aana Is Des Laado, in that order.
