Hyderabad, Nov. 5 Gemini TV is all set to roll out the international game format, Deal or No Deal, in Telugu, which would be telecast over 26 episodes between 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from November 7. Each participating contestant can win up to Rs 50 lakh.
Deal or No Deal, which is the international flagship show of entertainment company Endemol of the Netherlands, has so far been telecast in 73 countries, including Egypt, Estonia, China, Slovenia, Vietnam and Zimbabwe, and given away Rs 500 crore worth cumulative prize money.
The game involves 26 suitcases, each of which contains an unknown amount between Rs 1 and Rs 50 lakh. To begin with, the contestant chooses any one of the suitcases not knowing the value inside. From then on, the contestant’s objective is to walk away from the game with the maximum possible amount of money through a process of opening the other 25 boxes and deciding to deal or not to deal with a mysterious banker who offers to buy the contestant’s suitcase offering varying amounts of money at different stages throughout the fame.
Mr Ajay Vidyasagar, Chief Operating Officer, Sun TV Network, said the network had introduced an innovation with the necessary approval from Endemol. “We have introduced the 27th box to enable viewers to participate in the show from their houses. Viewers can take a guess on the prize money in this box and SMS their answers to us through a specific SMS platform we have created. At stake for viewers is a prize money up to Rs 1 lakh,” he told presspersons here today.
He said the response from advertisers was encouraging, with Hindustan Unilever being the title sponsors.
