MUMBAI: ‘The Lion King’ has become the fourth Disney film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark in the country. It has made over Rs. 114.27 crore in first two weeks.On Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the other Disney movies that achieved the mark were ‘The Jungle Book, ‘Avengers Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers Endgame’.
He called the film a super hit and said that in the first week it made Rs. 81.57 crore and in the second week it made Rs. 32.70 crore. “#TheLionKing is unstoppable… Biz on [second] Sat + Sun is phenomenal… Second #Hollywood film to cross Rs. 30 cr in *Weekend 2* in *2019*, after #AvengersEndgame [Rs. 52.55 cr]..”
Other Disney films that are slated for release include sequels to the animation movie ‘Frozen’ and the Anjelina Jolie starrer ‘Maleficent’. There will also be another Star Wars movie.
