Reliance Jio has certainly managed to dominate the Indian telecom industry and analysts believe that it will take time for the industry to stabilize after Jio's assault. Moreover, Jio's latest venture, the Jio Phone has come up as yet another factor that has turned down the hopes of telecom service providers to recover from Jio's subjugation.

However, Airtel seems to have an apt reply to Jio's latest phone that offers unlimited 4G data at cheap rates. After bringing down the prices for its data plans and offering unlimited voice call benefits to its users Airtel is preparing the ground for the release of its 4G smartphone that might be priced at Rs. 2,000. The smartphone will be launched to challenge Jio's move of launching the cheapest 4G mobile phone.

Reports suggest that Airtel plans to introduce a smartphone that will run the popular Android OS, Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box. Jio Phone, on the other hand, runs Kai OS which is Reliance Jio's homegrown OS. The expected price for the smartphone could be less than Rs. 2000 and Airtel may launch the device as soon as the first week of October 2017.

The rumored specifications for the smartphone are, 1GB of RAM, a 4-inch display, front and rear cameras along with 1,400-1,600 mAh battery. It will not take too long for Indian consumers to make the Airtel smartphone a bestseller given the fact that Airtel offers a great plan with the smartphone.

Also, since the smartphone will supposedly be a touch-screen device, its case will be a lot stronger than the Jio Phone.

We had earlier reported that even Idea Cellular is planning to launch a new smartphone pretty soon for around Rs 2,500. However, unlike JioPhone, they don't plan to ‘subsidise’ the cost of the handset, instead, it will bundle it different plans.

Meanwhile, Vodafone has partnered with Lava and Intex and is offering a cashback worth Rs 900 on the purchase of a new Lava feature phone, whereas for Intex customers it is offering 50 percent cash back on recharge up to Rs 100 on Intex 2G feature phones.
