MUMBAI: Video on demand (VoD) platform Amazon Prime Video has added its sixth Indian language content service with Kannada. Currently, Amazon Prime Video offers content in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, and Hindi.

The platform has launched Kannada movies to mark Karnataka Rajyotsava (Karnataka Day). It has also exclusively premiered the recently released film ‘Katheyondu Shuruvgide’. The film will also be available with English subtitles across multiple territories.

It has also acquired the digital streaming rights for upcoming releases in 2019 including Avane Srimannarayana, and Orange. Earlier this year, Prime Video had premiered one Kannada title, the comedy blockbuster ‘Humble Politiciann Nograj’.

As part of the new Kannada bouquet, Prime members can access and stream recently released movies like Sankashta Kara Ganapathi, Vardhana and Andhagaara. Additionally, Prime Video has acquired the digital rights for highly anticipated upcoming Kannada movies Avane Srimannarayana and Orange.

Amazon Prime Video India Director and head content Vijay Subramaniam said, “It has been our constant endeavor to offer best-in-class content to our customers in India. We have the largest selection of latest and exclusive Indian and international titles that customers love and enjoy. We are happy to further this effort with the addition of Kannada movies on Prime Video India.
