General News Counter-Strike 1.6 with multiplayer support ported to Android, here’s how to play it
[Image: Hm1iEg8.jpg]

Gamers rejoice! Whether you’re an online gamer or have been a part of LAN gaming sessions, you may be already familiar with Counter-Strike 1.6. It is a widely played game on Steam by gamers from across the globe. While the popular car racing game Need for Speed Most Wanted has officially made its way to Android and iOS, Counter-Strike 1.6 hasn’t. Now, a crafty developer has successfully managed to port the full PC game to Android, bringing back the nostalgia of this great first person shooter on your smartphone.

The game works best on a PC while letting you take full control of the keyboard keys combination and the mouse. However, developer Alibek Omarev has completely rewritten the code to make Counter-Strike 1.6 work on Android devices. He has managed to get all the controls on-screen, right from moving around to firing and refilling the ammo.

While the on-screen controls look cluttered, there is an option to customize them too. Omarev has also posted the source code on Github for those who want to tweak things around. A user has also shared a video on YouTube (embedded below), which shows off the game running on an Android. And if you’re wondering how to get it running on your smartphone, follow the steps mentioned below.

To begin with, you’ll need to have a Steam account and Counter-Strike 1.6 game. While the developer has posted the emulator to run the game, you’ll need some game files to make it run on your Android.

Step One: You’ll need to download and install this APK file from here. There are two APK files here – use the one with omp suffix on a smartphone with multi-core chipset, and the one with noomp suffix for smartphones with single-core chipset.

Step Two: Download and install the latest Xash3D APK file from here.

Step Three: Now, on your PC, go to Steam directory where you have installed the game and copy these folders – cstrike and valve. Next, paste them in xash folder on your smartphone’s SD card or internal storage.

Step Four: Run the CS16Client on you smartphone. If all steps are followed correctly, the game should run with ease.

If you gave it a try and got the Counter-Strike 1.6 running on your smartphone, do let us know how the experience is in the comments section below.
