England will tour Sri Lanka for five One-Day Internationals, a one-off Twenty20 International and three Tests in October later this year, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Thursday (March 15). The tour will start on October 10 and conclude on November 27.
England will have about eight days to acclimatise to the conditions before they play the first ODI in Dambulla. The second ODI will also be played at the same venue before the teams travel to Kandy for the next two matches. The last ODI and the one-off T20I will be played in Colombo before the three Tests, that will be played in Galle, Kandy and Colombo.
The first Test will start from November 6 while the second will be played from November 14. The final match of the tour will start from November 23. After the limited-overs leg of the tour, England will play two two-day warm-up games against NCC and CCC.
England will be desperate to improve their record in Sri Lanka having not accomplished much success yet. In the 13 Tests so far, they've lost five and won four while four have ended in draws. They did fairly well and drew the two-Test series last time they toured in 2012.
Their record in ODIs too doesn't inspire a lot of confidence as they've suffered 15 losses in the 21 games they've played so far. In their last tour in 2014, they were handed five defeats in the seven-match series.
