General News Eros Now plans to launch 20 web series, 21 short, digital films
MUMBAI: Eros International’s digital platform Eros Now plans to release 20 short form web series, 15 short films, as well as six digital films, Eros International Media said in its Q4 corporate presentation.

The platform had premiered its first direct-to-digital original film ‘Meri Nimmo’ in April and is planning to launch a stable of feature films and made-for-digital originals films.

It will premiere 11 regional films in Tamil, Marathi, and Gujarati in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The movie line-up is in addition to the Eros International slate. The regional film slate comprises five Marathi (Conditions Apply, Zindagi Virat, Chitthi, Gauthi, Dhol Taashe), four Tamil, and two Gujarati (Duniyadari, Aau Taru Kari Naku) films.

Eros Now’s web series slate includes Smoke, Sidehero, Toffee, Swarajya, Flip, Minerva Mills Malady, Lost, Ponnyin Selvan, Bhumi and Blue Oak Academy.

As on 31 March, ErosNow had 100 million registered users and 7.9 million paying subscribers worldwide. The platform is eyeing a paid subscriber base of 16 million by the FY19 end.

Eros Now COO Ali Hussein had in an earlier interaction stated that the platform will focus on three content buckets episodic originals, original films, and short-form content. “We will be focussing on three simple buckets including long-form episodic originals, original films like ‘Meri Nimmo’, and short-form content,” he had stated.

Hussein had also said that the platform has two more digital-first films in the offing. One is a Tamil horror film followed by a Gujarati film.

He also said that the web original shows will start rolling out from June-July. The platform also has an aggressive movie slate. “We are planning to come out with at least 8 shows. We will also have an extensive movie slate,” he had said.

Eros Now has digital rights for 10,000+ films and perpetual rights for 5000+ films. The library also includes 100+ TV shows.
