Social media giant Facebook has just announced a new feature for the platform called ‘Lip Sync Live’. This new feature will be part of the existing ‘Facebook Live Video’ feature instead of being a separate feature. Facebook is also making a significant change by allowing its users to add music to their personal videos and select music as part of this new ‘Lip Sync Live feature’. Facebook announced both these things in a post on its News Room this is likely the result of music licensing deals that Facebook secured “with all three major labels”.

The post pointed out that Facebook is testing the different ways on how it can allow users to take advantage of the music available in the catalogs provided by these music labels as part of the deal. This means that not all Facebook users can add music to their personal videos at the time of writing. The company is planning to roll this ability to all its users across the globe. However, it has not specified any fixed timeline for the rollout.

Moving to ‘Lip Sync Live’, the company is planning to take over apps such as ‘Musical.ly’, and ‘Dubsmash’ with this feature. This is similar to how the company wanted to take on Snapchat by introducing the ‘Stories’ format on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The company is testing this new feature in limited markets while allowing users to select from “hundreds” of popular music tracks.

This is not all as the company as also added a “With” option in the “Lip Sync Live” feature to allow users to bring along their friends while recording such videos. Since this new feature is part of the Facebook Live feature, users can apply filters and different backgrounds while using the feature. The feature will also show what song the user is lip syncing to so that they can tap on the song to check out the original song or follow the artist.

The company pointed out that “more music integrations” are on their way. This means that music lovers have to keep a watch of where they can use music next on the platform.
