The Samsung Galaxy On7, which at Rs 10,990, is undoubtedly one of the top phones in the budget segment but now it has got a new competitor in the form of InFocus M680 which today was launched at Rs 10,999. So let's check out which one of these phones offers the maximum value for the money.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 looks like a premium offering from Samsung, with a textured back cover and metal surrounds. The phone has slim bezels and measures 151.8 x 77.5 x 8.2 mm, and weighs 171 grams.

The InFocus M680 is a very good looking phone, with diamond cut metal rim. It has a plastic back panel but it looks like a metal panel. The phone is super slim, and it measures 156 x 76.8 x 7.25 mm, and weighs 158 grams.

If you are bored of the tried and trusted look of Samsung phones, the InFocus M680will surely excite you.

The InFocus M680 has a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display, which results in a pixel density of 429 ppi. The Samsung Galaxy On7 has a 5.5 inch HD TFT display, which results in a pixel density of 267 ppi. Neither of the phones seems to have any sort of screen protection. With higher pixel density, M680 surely has an edge over the On7.

Processor & Memory

The Samsung Galaxy On7 is armed with a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The phone runs with 1.5 GB, and has 8 GB of internal storage, to which you can add another 128 GB via a microSD card.

The InFocus M680 runs an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, which is clocked at 1.5 GHz. The phone runs on 2 GB of RAM and has 16 GB of internal storage, to which you can add another 64 GB.

The InFocus M680 should therefore out-perform the Samsung Galaxy On7 when it comes to processing ability. In terms of storage also our vote goes to M680 even though On7 has higher expandable storage as the InFocus smartphone has higher internal memory which is crucial as many apps can only be downloaded onto phone's memory and not to the micro SD card.

The InFocus M680 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1, and has InLife UI 2.0. The Samsung Galaxy On7 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1, and has Samsung's famed TouchWiz UI.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 has a 3000 mAh battery which claims to offer up to 21 hours of talk time (on 3G).

The InFocus M680 has a 2600 mAh battery and as we said in its review as well, it can offer about 10-12 hours of back up even for heavy users.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 is the winner of this round, simply due to size.

The InFocus M680 has a 13 megapixel autofocus camera that comes with aperture of f/2.0, HDR, and full HD video recording ability. For selfies, it offers a 13 megapixel autofocus camera as well. Both the cameras are quite good but their performance goes down a bit in low light.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 has a 13 megapixel shooter, with an aperture of f/2.2, flash, 1080p video recording; while the front of the phone has a 5 megapixel shooter with a similar aperture. We are yet to review the On7 so cannot pass a judgement on its camera capability but in terms of figures only, our vote certainly goes for the InFocus M680.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 is a dual-SIM phone with 4G, GPS (A-GPS and GLONASS), Bluetooth 4.1, and WiFi too. The InFocus M680 too is a dual SIM phone with GPS (A-GPS), Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi.

The Samsung has the better connectivity, as it will lock onto GPS coordinates faster, and also has a slightly more modern Bluetooth version.

Wrapping up

For a price difference of just Rs 9, there is a very wide gap between the Samsung Galaxy On7 and the InFocus M680. The InFocus comes with a full HD display, more RAM, 4 more cores in the processor which has faster clock speed too, and a better front camera. Where is the catch? The catch is that the Samsung Galaxy On7 has a larger battery, better higher storage, and marginally better connectivity. For those who can ignore these three shortcomings on the InFocus M680, it seems like a very good deal.
