The newly launched Motorola Moto G Turbo is priced at Rs 14,449, putting it firmly in the middle of a hotly contested segment. One of the phones it will be going against is the Samsung Galaxy J7, which too at the moment is available for Rs 14,999. So let's see which one of these phones offers the most at this price.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a plastic body and has the same design elements as the older Samsung phones. Infact it is virtually impossible to distinguish it from some of its older cousins. The phone though has a compact design measuring at 152.2 x 79.1 x 7.9 mm and it weighs 169 grams.

The Moto G Turbo too borrows its looks from other Motorola devices but it still looks fresh and comparatively looks better than the Samsung phone. Like other Motorola phones, it has a plastic back panel and metal rim and is curvier which is amply clear from its dimensions - 142.1 x 72.4 x 6.1-11.6 mm. Being a 5 inch device, it is lighter than the J7 (weighs just 155 grams). It must be mentioned, that the Moto G is water and dust resistant to a decent degree, and this tips the scales in its favour to a certain extent.

The Motorola Moto G Turbo is armed with a 5 inch IPS display that offers resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, thereby offering pixel density of 267 ppi. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 5.5 inch Super Amoled display with the same resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and thus its display has lesser pixel density. However, the J7 compensates that with the Super Amoled technology.

Processor & Memory

The Samsung Galaxy J7 is armed with a Snapdragon 615 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, and runs with 1.5 GB of RAM. The internal storage stands at 16 GB to which you can add another 128 GB via a microSD card.

The Motorola Moto G Turbo is armed with the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy J7, the Snapdragon 615 however the RAM stands at 2 GB. The internal memory stands at 16 GB, which can be expanded by another 32 GB.
The Moto G Turbo is the clear winner of this round, thanks to its higher RAM.

The Motorola Moto G Turbo runs on Android Lollipop, and uses the stock interface, without any customisations. An upgrade to Android M is very likely, as Motorola has shown an excellent track record for this thus far.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 too runs on Android Lollipop and has the well-known Samsung Touch Wiz OS.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 3000 mAh battery, and the Motorola Moto G Turbo runs a 2470 mAh unit. The J7 can provide up to 15 hours of talk time or 354 hours of standby (network not known), and the Moto G Turbo can provide up to 24 hours of mixed usage, and can last for up to 6 hours on a 15 minute charge.

The Samsung is the clear winner of this round.

The Motorola Moto G Turbo has a 13 megapixel rear camera with f2.0 aperture, dual LED flash, auto focus, 4x digital zoom, slow motion video, burst mode, panorama, and video HDR features. For selfies, Moto G Tubo offers a 5 megapixel front camera with f2.2 aperture, fixed focus and display falsh technology.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 13 megapixel auto-focus primary camera and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter as well. The Motorola Moto G Turbo might have more features, but since the specs are so closely matched, we will wait to call a winner till a real world test.

The Motorola Moto G Turbo is a dual-SIM 4G phone with WiFi, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1.1, and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS. The Samsung Galaxy J7is a dual-SIM phone with 4G, GPS (A-GPS and GLONASS), Bluetooth 4.1.1, WiFi, and NFC.

Wrapping Up

The Samsung J7 looks better in the battery department but in all other areas its the Moto G Turbo looks a better device.
