MUMBAI: Cable TV and broadband service provider GTPL Hathway has launched high-speed broadband service in Ahmedabad on GPON FTTX technology.

The company has upgraded its network to GPON FTTX technology to meet the consumer demand and started providing high-speed internet connections of 40 Mbps and 100 Mbps plans with no data restriction in the price range of Rs 635 – 763 per month excluding taxes with options for an annual and half-yearly subscription.

GTPL is providing two types of plans, unlimited plans and volume based plans. The unlimited plans range from 6 Mbps priced Rs 4,999 to 100 Mbps priced Rs 9,999. It has three volume based plans. The 10-2 Mbps plan offers 500 Gb data for six months at Rs 4,999. The 4 Mbps plans offers 1000 GB data for 12 months at Rs 4,100. The highest plan priced Rs 8,999 offers 1200 GB data for 12 months at 10-2 Mbps speed.

The high-speed broadband plan will be subsequently rolled out in other key cities of Gujarat.

“GTPL has been making continuous enhancement in its technological capabilities and deploying most advanced available technology in cable and broadband industry. Our deployment of the latest GPON FTTX technology has enabled us to provide a unique offering of high speed ‘no data restriction’ internet connectivity. This offer is a game changer and GTPL is proud to bring this to its valued customers,” said GTPL Hathway MD Anixuddhasinhji Jadeja.

“With the launch of our new broadband plans, for the first time, customers in Ahmedabad will get “Sach mein Unlimited” – a unique combination of high-speed connectivity at a reasonable price with no data restriction whatsoever. Currently, the company is offering 40Mbps and 100Mbps speed under this plan. However, the technology can provide up to 1Gbps, if customer demands,” added Jadeja.

In Q2 FY18, GTPL Hathway had added 40,000 new Home pass in the broadband business. It had also added 10,000 broadband subscribers to take the total base to 0.26 million. The ARPU from broadband business stayed flat at Rs 487. Data Consumption per customer stood at 46 GB/month as on September 2017 increasing from 34GB/month in December 2016, a jump of 35%.

GTPL’s net profit from the broadband business had grown 7% to Rs 3.9 crore from Rs 3.7 crore. EBITDA increased 10% to Rs 9.2 crore from Rs 8.4 crore. Total revenue had increased by 4% to Rs 33.1 crore from Rs 31.8 crore.

Recently, the company had stated that it expects subscription revenue from broadband business to be equal to the cable TV business in the future.

Talking to media analysts, GTPL Hathway chairman Rajan Gupta, who is also the MD of Hathway Cable and Datacom, had said that he sees equal potential from cable and broadband businesses.

“So I see in future the time will come and GTPL will have cable subscription and broadband subscription as equal, so that is a kind of endeavour we are all together working on,” Gupta had told the analysts.

During the discussion, Jadeja had said that the company plans to roll-out GPON FTTH in four cities in Gujarat by the end of fiscal 2018.

Gupta had further informed that the GPON FTTH rollout has already started in approximately 100,000 home passes in Ahmedabad City.

To support minimum 40 Mbps speed for all consumers and 200 GB monthly limit for all consumers, the company has been upgrading the backend fibre ring to 40 GB capacities for Ahmedabad City.
