According to an extensive report by the Associated Press (AP), it was revealed that Google is still tracking the activities and location of its users even if they have turned the “Location History” option off on their smartphones.

About two billion Android smartphone users and “hundreds of millions of” iPhone users who depend on Google Maps are affected by this privacy issue.

Google issues a clarification on how it tracks your whereabouts even if Location History is off

Google recently found itself embroiled in a controversy regarding its location tracking policies, after it was found that even users that have opted out of tracking of Location History are still having their location tapped and logged by the search and internet giant. The issue stemmed from the use of Google Maps, which is the default mapping app for all Android smartphones, and is also used on the iOS platform by millions of users.
