General News Google now shows lyrics directly in search results

Google has now made the ‘how does that song go”  searches much easier. Instead of having to choose the best website for accurate song lyrics, Google will now show up lyrics directly in the search results. This of course shortens the process of looking up lyrics of a song by putting it out there on the screen.

This new feature is a part of Google’s multi-year licensing deal with LyricFind. The deal is believed to monetarily help both music publishers and songwriters LyricFinder Chief Executive and co-founder Darryl Ballantyne told Billboard, “It should be a significant revenue stream. I can’t get into the rates, but we expect it to be millions of dollars generated for publishers and songwriters as a result of this. It’s all based on usage. Royalties are paid based on the number of times a lyric is viewed. The more it’s viewed, the more publishers get paid.”

The new search feature has been rolled out in the US this week, and will eventually be rolled out for users across other countries.

Recently, Google also announced some improvements to its symptom search results for more concise answers related to health queries. Soon, symptom-related queries will be accompanied by overview of the symptoms, along with steps on how to treat those symptoms, and when and what would warrant a visit to a doctor. All of this would show up at one place in the search result.

Such updates and improvements indicate Google is really working hard to make search easier and better for its users by flashing the best search results right at the top of the screen and reducing the time and effort to have to go through multiple websites for the same.
