India’s telecom industry, which has been involved in a bitter tariff war, is now looking for new ways to drive revenue. While the early stage of this tariff war aimed at adding more prepaid users, the shift now seems to bring in new postpaid subscribers.

In an effort to keep up competition and streamline its offering with that of Vodafone, Idea Cellular has revised its Nirvana range of postpaid plans to offer double data benefit. As a result, the telecom player has removed its existing Rs 389 postpaid plan to introduced a new Rs 399 plan with double data benefit. With this plan, Idea Cellular is offering a total of 40GB data as opposed to 20GB offered with an older plan. The plan also comes with option to carry forward unused data with a cap of 200GB. Here is a look at the revised tariff plan.

Idea Cellular Rs 399 Nirvana Plan: Key benefits
With the Rs 399 Nirvana plan, Idea Cellular is offering its users a total of 40GB data on 2G/3G/4G network. The plan also comes bundled with unlimited voice calls valid within India without any fair usage policy limit. Idea Cellular’s postpaid users are also entitled for 100 free SMS per data even while roaming.

With the Rs 399 Nirvana plan, Idea users will be able to carry forward a total of 200GB data to their next billing cycle. This limit is lower than 500GB rollover option offered by other telecom players. This is considerably better than 20GB of data previously offered with the Rs 389 plan.

Idea Cellular Rs 499 Nirvana Plan: Benefits
With the Rs 499 tariff plan, Idea Cellular is offering a total of 75GB data, which is up from 40GB previously offered with the plan. This plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls including roaming and up to 100 SMS per day. It also supports data rollover but limited to 200GB in total.
