NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular, India's third largest telecom operator will reportedly launch two new plans of Rs 297 and Rs 447 for segmented prepaid users to counter Reliance Jio's recently announced Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. A TelecomTalk report said that the Rs 297 plan will offer unlimited Idea to Idea local and STD, bundled with 1GB of 4G data per day for 70 days

The Rs 447 plan, on the other hand, will offer unlimited calls to any network across the country, bundled with 1GB of 4G data per day for 70 days.

The Rs 297 plan will limit the voice calls to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week, the report said, adding that the Rs 447 plan will limit the voice calls to just 3000 minutes for 70 days. Users will be charged at 30paise/minute after the FUP limit.

These offers will be available for 4G handset users with 4G Idea SIM card.

Bharti Airtel, India's leading telecom operator has also launched a new plan to counter 4G entrant Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan scheme. The Sunil Mittal-led telco is now offering unlimited calls to any operator along with 1GB of data per day for 70 days for Rs 399. The offer is available as a segmented offer through the MyAirtel app.

Reliance Jio had earlier this week launched its Dhan Dhana Dhan scheme which offers 84GB data or 1 GB data per day at the price of Rs 309 for a span of three months. The plan also comes bundled with unlimited local and STD calls, along with unlimited access to digital services.

Reliance Jio on Wednesday asked the telecom regulator to take “strongest action” and levy the “highest penalty” against Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular for alleged violation of licence rules, telecom tariff orders and mobile number portability (MNP) guidelines, in the latest round of accusations, which India’s top telcos refuted.

In the latest letter to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) dated April 10, Jio said that the incumbent telcos were using “unfair and deceptive” ways and putting together customised retention offers for subscribers willing to leave them using MNP. It added that the incumbents were offering special tariff vouchers (STV), packs and discounts to influence users who wish to port out of their networks.

The Mukesh Ambani alleged that these offers are being presented to subscribers “surreptitiously” on a one-to-one basis and that the same offers are not available to the public.
