LG Spirit LTE, LG G4 Stylus 4G VoLTE, VoWiFi enabled smartphones launched exclusively via Reliance Retail: Price, specifications, features

In an exclusive partnership with Reliance Retail, LG India has launched two 4G-enabled smartphones, called the Spirit LTE and the G4 Stylus 4G. While the company hasn’t revealed details about these smartphones, the talking points are their VoLTE and VoWiFi capabilities.

VoLTE essentially lets operators handle cellular voice calls over LTE networks, which results in HD voice clarity, faster call connectivity among others. VoWiFi, on the other hand, will allow the smartphones to switch between mobile network and Wi-Fi during voice calls, which is a boon for users with poor cellular coverage in their homes.

LG may not have revealed the pricing detail of these smartphones, but they are available online. The Spirit LTE was spotted on eBay India with a price tag of Rs 13,350, while the LG G4 Stylus 4G is listed on the company’s website with a price tag of Rs 21,199. The thing to note is that the 3G variants are currently listed on LG’s official website, priced at Rs 13,000 and Rs 22,000 respectively. The specifications and features of these new smartphones remain the same, albeit with the added LTE support.

LG Spirit LTE specifications and features: The smartphone features a 4.7-inch HD display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

It also comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1-megapixel selfie camera, 2,100mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots.

LG G4 Stylus 4G specifications and features: The smartphone features a 5.7-inch HD IPS display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB internal memory, which can expanded using a microSD card.

It also comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, 5-megapixel front camera, 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots.

In the run up to the launch of its commercial 4G services later this year, Reliance has partnered smartphone companies to procure and distribute LTE capable smartphones. In addition to LG, the company has also roped in Micromax-backed YUfor its Yureka and Yunique smartphones.

Reliance will also be selling smartphones under its own LYF brand, which itannounced in October. Smartphones sold under the LYF brand will be procured from the company’s hardware partners and will all feature dual-SIM card slots, 4G support, VoLTE and VoWiFi. These smartphones will be priced between Rs 4,000 and Rs 25,000.

These smartphones from the company’s partners as well as its own LYF brand will be sold via Reliance Retail, which boasts over 1,200 distributors and 1.5 lakh retail outlets.

As mentioned above, Reliance Jio is set to finally roll out its LTE services in India by the end of this year. The company holds a total of 751.1MHz spectrum across 800MHz, 1,800MHz and 2,300MHz bands. Towards the end of last month, it signed an agreement with Anil Ambani-led RCom to share spectrum in the 800 MHz band across seven telecom circles.

Reliance Jio will join the likes of Airtel, which is among the first movers with 4G services in nearly 300 cities in India. Vodafone too is expected to enter the race with roll out scheduled for December. The competition though is all set to heat up once Reliance Jio rolls out its 4G services, with monthly plans believed to be priced around Rs 300-500 mark.
