LG recently confirmed that it would not launch smartphones on a yearly schedule. Rather, the manufacturer will only launch smartphones when it is needed. Even the launch of flagship LG G7 is said to be pushed back. Having said that, the company has quietly launched a new mid-range smartphone on its home turf. Dubbed as LG X4+, the device is priced at $280 (approximately Rs. 17,860).

Talking about the phone itself, it comes with not so impressive specs. The LG X4+ houses a 5.3-inch IPS display with HD (720p) resolution. Notably, the rear part of the smartphone is made of aluminum. Under the hood, the device makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. The chipset is teamed up with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage space.

On the optics front, the LG X4+ flaunts a 13-megapixel rear-facing primary camera; while the selfie camera at the front is of 5-megapixel. It is backed up by a standard 3,000mAh battery which should last for long hours given the phone's small display.

The smartphone comes with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box and it features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Other than that, the LG X4+ has built-in Hi-Fi DAC (digital-analog converter) to offer good sound quality. One important aspect of the handset is that it supports LG Pay. For those who are unaware, just like Samsung Pay, LG Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by that lets users make payments using compatible phones.

Lastly but importantly, the LG X4+ carries MIL-STD 810G rating and it's certified in six categories including impact, vibration, high temperature, low temperature, thermal shock, and humidity. As of now, there is no information on the phone's global availability. However, the chances are it won't reach other markets.

On a side note, LG G7 is said to arrive late than usual. According to a recent report, the smartphone is being built from scratch. In fact, it won't launch until April or June. This means, the unlike every year, the MWC 2018 won't see the unveiling of LG's flagship smartphone. Though the news may disappoint many fans, the company is taking its sweet time.
