General News MIB grants 20 new MSO licences in Oct-Nov

MUMBAI: The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has granted 20 new multi-system operator (MSO) licences between 24th October to November. The total number of registered MSOs has increased to 1606, as on 24th November.

Of the 20 new registrations, 10 are proprietorships, seven are companies while three are partnership based firms.

Three Mumbai-based firms namely Aeirth Technologies, Kandivali Cable & Communication and Lalu Digital have received licences. From Gujarat, four firms have received MSO registration. These include Ajanta Sky Darshan, Shree Sai Vision, Sangani Cable Network, and Gatrad Krupa Cable Network.

Techosmart Cable and Mediatech Communication from West Bengal have received MSO licence. Sona Cable Network, North India Digital & Broadband Network, and Jai Bhole Nath Cable Network from Haryana have also received the licence to operate as an MSO.

Other firms who have received the licence include Spacenet Communication (Odisha), Ghaziabad Infotainment (UP), DAM Network (Delhi), M.S. Cable Network (Andhra Pradesh), IT Spectrum Technology (Karnataka), Laxmi Narayana Communication (Telangana), Home Vu Digital Cable and Broadband (Telangana), and Alliance Cable N/W Seven Zero Seven (Bihar).

Earlier, the ministry had granted 119 new MSO licences between January to October. It had granted just one MSO licence in 2018. As on 24th October, the ministry had granted regular registrations to 1586 MSOs to operate anywhere in India.

So far, the ministry has granted 139 MSO licences in 2019.
