Motorola just unveiled Moto Z3 Play. The phone is the successor to the Moto Z2 Play, and comes with noticeable changes in both design and hardware departments. It also continuous the Moto Mod concept of the flagship Z series. The phone is priced at $499 (approximately Rs 33,000).

Design wise, the phone now features much thinner bezels around the screen, bringing the display aspect ratio to 18:9. There is notch though. The chassis is made of aluminum and has Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top, both at the front and at the back.

There is no wireless charging support, but there is said to be Moto Mod for it. Speaking of which, the Z3 Play will also be compatible with all the Moto Mods. To make space for that, the fingerprint sensor has been side-mounted.

Moto Z3 Play specifications and features
Thanks to the thinner bezels, the Moto Z3 Play sports a 6.01-inch Super AMOLED display, featuring a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC, paired alongside 4GB of RAM. There are two storage configurations that include 32GB and 64GB.

In the photography department, the Moto Z3 Play comes with dual camera setup at the back. You get a primary 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel depth measurement sensor that can take great bokeh images. It can also help add different effects to the background. There is also support for dual-pixel autofocus, and dual-tone LED flash. For taking selfies, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel camera featuring an f/2.0 aperture and screen flash.

The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS, and is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery. It comes with a USB Type-C port and supports fast charging as well.

Pricing and availability in India haven’t been revealed yet. However, you can expect the Moto Z3 Play and its Moto Mods to hit market soon.
