General News Netflix partners Green Gold for its first kids original animated series in India

[Image: Netflix-and-Green-Gold-main.jpg]MUMBAI: Video streaming giant Netflix has partnered with Green Gold Animation to launch its first kids original animated series in India called ‘Mighty Little Bheem’.

The 13-epsidic series adventure comedy series will make its global debut on the platform in 2018 and will be targeted towards a pre-school audience.

It is about a strong, brave and intelligent hero named “Mighty Little Bheem” traveling through his hometown on crazy adventures, often in search of ladoo.

“We continue to invest in Indian productions and creative storytelling that our members will love and cherish. We’re excited to partner with Green Gold Animation and announce an original show that will bring great storytelling, based on one of India’s beloved characters, not just to India but to kids and families around the globe,” said Netflix Director of Global Kids Content Andy Yeatman.

“We are thrilled to work with Netflix and take Mighty Little Bheem, a story based on India’s most popular children’s character, to an audience across India and 190 countries worldwide,” said Green Gold Animation Founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka.

Incidentally, Green Gold has a multi-year content deal with Amazon Prime Video which makes the video streaming service the exclusive subscription streaming home for all of Green Gold Animation’s future TV episodes and TV movies of Chhota Bheem, Super Bheem and Mighty Raju.

Recently, Netflix international original series VP Erik Barmack had said that the video streaming will ramp up its original content production India. It plans to to release five to six originals a year, he had said at the ongoing Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival.

Currently, Netflix has three Indian series under production. These include Sacred Games, which is directed by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Cricket and corruption drama Selection Day, which is based on the book by Aravind Adiga, and supernatural detective series Again, which is written by Quantico’s Marisha Mukerjee.
