General News Pokemon Go coming to Windows Phone 'soon'

Nintendo's crazily-popular Pokemon Go augmented reality mobile game looks set to make its debut on Windows Phones.

Microsoft Portugal on its Facebook page replied to a user query stating that the gaming app will be hitting Windows Phone Store "soon". The company, however, revealed no specific date or time frame.

Incidentally, soon after the reply was published, it was retracted by the company (as first noticed by GSMarena) and instead a new comment was posted by the company that reads (after translation), "Dear fans, we apologize if the comment published previously you induced in error. We have actually received requests for this application will be available for windows phone. The store windows is evaluating options to satisfy this request in the best possible way. We promise to keep you abreast of any developments."

The developer Niantic too has not yet revealed any plans to bring Pokemon Go on Windows Phone. However, this seems to be a logical step in order to hook more users on to the AR-based video game. The company has until now launched the mobile video game in only a few countries including United States, Australia, New Zealand, Britain and Germany. The Niantic CEO said that he plans to launch the game in roughly 200 countries and regions.

According to a report, a developer has found a way to use Google Maps to show the location of all the Pokemon, gyms, and items at individual Pokestops. It is also possible to filter the map to only show the Pokestops or specific Pokemons. For now, the tool is not for everyone.
