MUMBAI: Private FM radio brand Radio City, which is run by Jagran Prakashan subsidiary Music Broadcast Ltd, has become the leading radio network in Maharashtra with the launch of its new station in Kolhapur. With the new launch, Radio City now boasts 11 stations in Maharashtra.

The new station, Radio City 95 FM, aims to present entertaining, innovative and creative content from the city. Like its other stations in Maharashtra, the channel will offer music from genres as diverse as romantic, retro, peppy and ghazals. It will also feature popular retro show ‘Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi’ in Marathi. The playlist will comprise Bollywood songs from the golden era customised for listeners of Kolhapur. Apart from music, the station will also provide information on regular city happenings as well as comic shows.

Music Broadcast Ltd CEO Abraham Thomas said, “With the launch of Radio City 95 FM in Kolhapur, we are proud to become the leading radio network with respect to footprint in Maharashtra covering 11 cities. Kolhapur being one of the fastest-growing cities of Maharashtra, we are all geared up to redefine radio entertainment after carving our footprint in metropolitan and Tier II cities. We are certain that we will see an overwhelming response from Kolhapur as our other stations in Maharashtra did.”

As part of the station launch, Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan introduced Love Guru, Babber Sher, Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi and Radio City RJs to Kolhapur listeners. Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar took the listeners on a city tour. A grand rally was organised from the famous temple of Goddess Mahalaxmi at Kolhapur to the Radio City Kolhapur 95 FM station.

The new radio station was acquired under Phase III auctions held last FY. With the new acquisition, the station has presence in Maharashtra with a network spread across Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Sangli, Nanded, Jalgaon, Akola, Nagpur, Nashik and Kolhapur.

Music Broadcast Ltd currently runs 39 stations, including 11 newly acquired stations in Phase III auctions. It also operates a 40-station web radio on Planetradiocity.com.
