Reliance Jio has come up with the Republic Day 2018 offer that actually offers double the data benefits at the same cost. This offer will take effect on January 26. Notably, Jio announced the offer on the same day when Airtel revised some of its prepaid plans to offer 40% more data (1.4GB per day instead of 1GB per day).
Given that both Reliance Jio and Airtel have revised their prepaid plans giving additional data at the same time, which one would you choose? If you happen to be a subscriber of both the networks (it is a common scenario), then you can take a look at the comparison of the various plans by Reliance Jio and Airtel to choose which one would suit you the best.
Jio’s Rs. 149 plan vs Airtel’s Rs. 149 plan
Reliance Jio's Rs. 149 plan offers 1.5GB of data per day after the revision and is valid for 28 days. So, the overall data that you get is 42GB. The plan comes with unlimited voice calls via the 4G VoLTE network and 100 free SMS per day. Also, it gives access to the Jio suite of apps. On the other hand, the Airtel plan offers 1GB of data per day. Still it offers unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. Earlier this plan offered free calls from Airtel to Airtel but now it offers unlimited local, STD and roaming calls irrespective of any network. The catch is that this Airtel plan is limited only to some circles.
Jio’s Rs. 198 plan vs Airtel’s Rs. 199 plan
Jio's Rs. 198 plan will give 2GB of data per day under the Republic Day offer and will have a validity of 28 days. Also, it will be bundled with unlimited voice calls, SMS and free subscription to the Jio suite of apps. The Airtel plan of Rs. 199 offers 1.4GB of data and also comes with unlimited voicde calls, be it local, STD or roaming and 100 free SMS per day. This plan is also valid for 28 days.
Jio’s Rs. 399 plan vs Airtel’s Rs. 349 plan
The Rs. 399 plan from Jio offers 1.5GB data per day while it was offering 1GB earlier and has a validity of 84 days. It comes with unlimited voice calls and Jio apps access just like the other plans mentioned here. The Airtel's Rs. 349 plan has a validity of just 28 days but offers 2.5GB of data per day, unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day. Notably, the latter is for the heavy data consumption subscribers. Airtel also offers a Rs. 399 plan that is valid for 84 days like Jio's Rs. 399 plan but it offers 1GB of data per day in addition to unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.
Jio’s Rs. 448 plan vs Airtel’s Rs. 448 plan
The Rs. 448 plan from Jio offers 2GB of data per day and is valid for 84 days. It bundles unlimited and free voice calls and 100 SMS per day as well. The Airtel plan of Rs. 448 is also similar with a validity of 82 days, unlimited calls and 100 free SMS per day. The data limit marks the difference as it offers 1.4GB of data per day.
Jio’s Rs. 498 plan vs Airtel’s Rs. 509 plan
When it comes to the Rs. 498 Jio prepaid plan, it offers 2GB of data per day for 91 days along with unlimited voice calls, SMS and Jio apps access. The Airtel's 509 prepaid plan is valid for 90 days and comes with 1.4GB of data per day. It also has benefits like unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.
We can see that at each price point, Jio offers more benefits than the Airtel plans in terms of data limit. In the Rs. 349 plan, Airtel does offer a massive 2.5GB of data per day that is higher than the data provided by Jio's Rs. 399 plan but the plan is valid only for 28 days. Given that Airtel revises its prepaid plans to compete with Reliance Jio, we can expect another revision to happen soon.
