#1
After disrupting the telecom space, Reliance Jio has its eyes set on the broadband space in India. At the 41st AGM, Reliance Jio announced that it will soon be launching the JioGigaFiber FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) broadband service, with registrations starting on August 15. To ensure there is a tough competition ahead of JioGigaFiber launch, Airtel is offering a 20 percent discount on its broadband plans.

However, there is a small catch. Spotted by TelecomTalk, the 20 percent discount is applicable on a yearly payment, whereas subscribers opting for a half-yearly payment get 15 percent discount. The discount is applicable across all cities where Airtel offers its broadband plans. The maximum speed that Bharti Airtel is offering with its plans is 300Mbps.

Talking about the plans and discounts, with Mumbai for instance, there are five plans that you can choose from. All plans offer unlimited local and STD calling. Except for the entry-level Rs 699 plan, the remaining four also offer data rollover feature and complimentary subscription to Amazon Prime for one-year.

The Rs 699 plan offers 40GB data per month, 500GB additional data, and data speed of up to 40Mbps. For 6 months, you will have to pay Rs 3,550 in one shot, which will bring down the price to Rs 591 per month, a discount of 15 percent.

Similarly, the highest plan which is priced at Rs 2,199, also gets 15 percent discount when you pay Rs 11,200 in one-shot for six months. It brings down the monthly cost to Rs 1,866. You can check the below screenshot for the available plans and discounts.

Now, talking about the yearly plan, you will have to pay Rs 6,700 one-shot for the basic plan, which brings down the effective cost from Rs 699 to Rs 558, a discount of 20 percent. Similarly, the higher plan priced at Rs 2,199 gets a 20 percent discount when you pay Rs 21,100 for one-year, which brings the effective price down to Rs 1,758. Below is the screenshot with the available plans and discounts.

Do note that the discounts will remain the same across all cities, however, the plans may differ. For instance, the entry-level plan is priced at Rs 799, whereas a plan with same benefits in Chennai costs Rs 899.
