MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (SET) will launch two new shows from 27 November following the culmination of its tent-pole show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 10.

KBC S10 will go off-air on 23 November. Following that, the channel will launch two fictional drama ‘Patiala Babes’ at 9 pm and ‘Ladies Special’ at 9.30 pm, every Monday to Friday.

Depicting the mother-daughter bond, ‘Patiala Babes’ is a heartwarming journey where the daughter not only gives wings to her mother but helps her take the leap of faith. Produced by Katha Kottage Productions, the show stars Paridhi Sharma as the mother loving called as Babes in the show and Ashnoor Kaur who has played the character of Mini (daughter).

SET senior creative director programming Ashish Golwalkar said, “It’s never too late to realize your dreams and it holds true for all mothers as well. A daughter helping her mother reclaim her identity is not just heartwarming and makes for great content. With Patiala Babes, we want to reach out to our viewers with a mother-daughter journey and make it more inclusive for family viewing. We are happy to have associated with Katha Kottage Productions for this show for the simplicity with which they have woven the narrative.”

Set against the backdrop of Punjab, Babita a.k.a. Babes is an ideal home-maker who feels everything is perfect in her life. But is it really true or is she living a life of denial? Babes, who usually forgets her own self, her aspirations, and her dreams, whilst managing her relationships, draws strength from her daughter, Mini. On the other hand, her daughter Mini, an enterprising teenager, is wise beyond her age and always looks out for Babes and encourages her to try new things. Will Mini be able to push Babes out of her comfort zone and rise above the odds? Or, will Babes succumb to her own inhibitions?

Katha Kottage Productions Producer Rajita Sharma stated, “We are thankful to SET for giving us a platform and wings to fly. Differentiated characters with depth and relatability are what we believe in and our synergies match with Sony on this front. I am certain Babes and Mini will make their way into every household and inspire many.”

The show also features Hunar Gandhi, Anirudh Dave, Bhaujeet Dudan, Poonam Sarnaik, Anup Puri and Mohit Hiranandani in the pivotal role. The channel is launching the show with a social media initiative #MaaYouCanDoIt challenge. All the daughters who are or can be the catalyst to their mothers’ growth, can show their support by sharing their mother’s journey of transformation in the form of a video on social media platforms by using the hashtag #MaaYouCanDoIt and tagging @SonyTVOfficial on Instagram; @SonyTelevision on Facebook and @SonyTV on Twitter.

On the other hand, ‘Ladies Special’ is a story of women from different walks of life. Produced by Optimystix Entertainment, the show is about the lives of ladies who travel by the Ladies Special suburban railway train in Mumbai. It is a take on the lives and challenges faced by women in big cities and how they sometimes find hope, encouragement, and companionship in the most unlikely places.

The channel has revived the show for the second season. The show was originally launched in 2009 but went off-air in December 2009 due to declining viewership. The revived show features fresh star cast – Chhavi Pandey, Bijal Joshi and Girija Oak in the lead role.
