General News Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro with 16-megapixel front-facing camera launched in India

After launching the Galaxy C9 Pro in India earlier this year, Samsung today has launched yet another C-series smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro is targeted towards the selfie-centric audience, thanks to its 16-megapixel front-facing camera of aperture f/1.9. The smartphone is just 7mm thick and weighs 172g.

The selfie-centric crowd is a niche audience, but of late, a lot of smartphone brands have been releasing devices that cater to such users. OPPO, Vivo and Gionee have been focusing on smartphones with good selfie cameras, and Samsung has tried it with the Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 and Galaxy C9 Pro previously. The Galaxy C7 Pro brings this approach to the sub-Rs 30,000 segment as well.

Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro price and availability
The device is priced at Rs 27,990 and will go on sale starting April 11 exclusively on Amazon India. The smartphone will be offered in gold and navy blue color options. At this price point, the Galaxy C7 Pro will compete with the self-proclaimed ‘flagship killer’ OnePlus 3T (64GB) which is priced at Rs 29,999. It will also go against the Vivo V5 Plus, which is priced at Rs 27,980 and OPPO F3 Plus which is priced at Rs 30,990.

The Vivo V5 Plus features dual front-facing cameras – a 20-megapixel sensor to capture high-resolution selfies, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor to capture depth information. The dual-camera setup allows you to add bokeh-effects to your selfies. The OPPO F3 Plus, on the other hand, also features a dual-camera setup comprising of a 16-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, together allowing you to capture wide-angle selfies.

Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro specifications and features
The smartphone has a 5.7-inch full HD (1080p) Super AMOLED display. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 quad-core SoC made on the 14nm process, the smartphone also has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. A microSD card slot for further storage expansion is also present. On the software front, the Galaxy C7 Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, and comes with support for Samsung Pay.

Besides the front-facing camera, the smartphone also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, aperture of F/1.9 and full HD video recording capabilities. On the connectivity front, the smartphone features 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC. There is also a USB Type-C reversible port for charging and data transfer. To keep things running, the smartphone has a 3,300mAh battery.
