Samsung’s Galaxy S7 may still be a few months away, but the rumor mills have already been kept busy. The latest report claims that it will feature a liquid cooling system to avoid overheating of the device.

Samsung is expected to use a system generally used on overclocked gaming PCs, albeit a miniature version of it. According to Chinese website UDN (via SlashGear), the Galaxy S7 is likely to feature tiny-pipes filled with liquid coolant placed around heat-producing chipsets. Samsung is said to be experimenting with various types and shapes of pipes to fit into the smartphone. Furthermore, to keep the handset slim, the company is working on a solution that is no more than 0.6mm thick.

As mentioned above heat pipes have been used on gaming PCs for a long time, but it is still a rarity on smartphones. That said the Sony Xperia Z5 and the recently launched Microsoft Lumia 950XL come to mind that boast such a liquid cooling system.

Samsung Galaxy S7 specifications and features: From what we have come across so far, the Galaxy S7 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch QHD display powered by either an Exynos 8890 chipset or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, which could be market dependent.

It is also expected to feature 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, 20-megapixel rear camera with BRITECELL camera sensor, 5-megapixel/8-megapixel selfie camera, and the usual bevy of connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB Type-C connector. The forthcoming smartphone is also expected to boast 3D Touch-like display. Just like this year’s smartphones, the Galaxy S7 is also expected to be available in two variants – a premium and sub-premium variants.

Furthermore, Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang claims that Samsung is planning on pricing the Galaxy S7 up to 10 percent lower than the Galaxy S6. This it believes will help the Galaxy S7 compete better against rivals like Apple, Sony, HTC and LG. To put this into perspective, the Galaxy S6 was launched in India for Rs 49,900, but is now available online for as low as Rs 34,699.
