As digitization is happening in India, satellite service providers are providing new satellites to DTH operators in India.

Ses is moving SES 3 to orbital position 108.2 East for Airtel.

Measat leases capacity on New Sat's Jabiru-1. Jabiru 1 is co located with Measat and has South Asia beam. This will be used by Sun Direct and Reliance.

Intelsat is moving Horizons 2 to orbital position 85 East. Horizons 2 is co located with Insat 4A and has India beam. This will be used by TataSky.

Thanks for the update Kallem.
The news about SES3 is acknowledged by them and solid.

Yet, about Horizon, i doubt it gives any hope for Tatasky, as its beam is only for Russia. They are already testing some channels on it and all are Russian channels.. Sad

Also, Jabiru-1 is yet to be launched.. i believe..?? correct me if am wrong..
Thanks.
Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.. for tomorrow never comes.. live today!!!

Measat Source

As per above source testing will be completed in 2 weeks then we will get update. It is clearly mentioned in the article that it will provide backup service to Measat customers and it has South Asia beam.

Intelsat Source

As per above source they have leased Intelsat and other sources say that in March new channels will be added. Intelsat might have moved satellite both for Russia and India.Only for Russia(for one Dth operator) it is not worth for them to move the satellite. Before that it was having American beam. They might be testing Indian beam now.Next month we will know that.
