As expected, Sony India has unveiled the Xperia XZ1 for the Indian market. The flagship smartphone is priced at Rs 44,990, and it will be going on sale from today via online and offline channels. As an introductory offer, Sony will be offering buyers using HDFC credit or debit cards a five percent cashback.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 was first unveiled at IFA 2017 earlier this month, alongside the Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Xperia XA1 Plus. As far as design is concerned, the Xperia XZ1 is a typical Sony device. It comes with a boxy design, and rounded edges with sharp corners. Sony calls it ‘metal unibody loop surface’ design. One of the highlights of the new Sony smartphone is a feature called ’3D Creator’. This feature basically allows users to scan faces or objects, and print them on a 3D printer. The 3D creator comes with four different modes – face, head, freeform and food to reproduce 3D images.

As far as the specifications and features are concerned, the Xperia XZ1 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display with HDR support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Powering the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, accompanied by 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of onboard storage.
For photography, the Xperia XZ1 sports a 19-megapixel sensor at the rear, which is equipped with Sony’s ‘Motion Eye’ technology allowing you to record 960fps slow-motion videos. It also has a 25mm lens, f/2.0 aperture, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), and 5-axis stabilization. Up front is a 13-megapixel camera.
Fuelling the smartphone is a 2,700mAh battery, which comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support. For connectivity, the Xperia XZ1 includes a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port. On the software front, the smartphone runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box with Sony’s custom UI on top. The Xperia XZ1 also comes with IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
