[Image: SONY-PICTURES-NETWORKS_main.jpg]MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has roped in seven sponsors for the upcoming India-South Africa series that kicks off on 5 January.

Maruti Suzuki, Raymond, Make My Trip and Idea 4G are the co-presenting sponsors while Byju’s, Kent and 99 acres are sponsors.

The series featuring 3 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 3 T20s will air on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3 in English and Hindi respectively. The event will also stream on Sony’s video on demand (VoD) service SonyLIV.

The broadcaster has launched an aggressive marketing campaign titled ‘Hisaab 25 Saal Ka’. The campaign centres around the fact that the Indian team is yet to win a Test series in South Africa since their first tour in 1992.

South Africa is an ideal time zone from an Indian viewers point of view.

Viewers can also look forward to the return of ‘Extraaa Innings’, the network’s flagship live studio show, during the series. Some of the panellists and commentators that have been confirmed for the upcoming tour include Sanjay Manjrekar, Ajay Jadeja, RP Singh, Murali Kartik, Harsha Bhogle and Jonty Rhodes.

India’s tour of South Africa marks the return of the Indian team to South Africa after a gap of three years. Cricket enthusiasts can expect ultimate sporting action with the formidable South African team against the remarkable form of the Indian team. The Indian team has an opportunity to create history if it does win the series in South Africa; a first in twenty-five years.

In 2013, Ten Sports under ZEEL had garnered an estimated Rs 120 crore in advertising revenue with 13 advertisers on board. The 2013 series comprised 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches. The sports network was acquired by Sony in 2016 for an aggregate amount of $366.32 million.
