General News SonyLIV partners Mojo Productions to launch new web series ‘The Big Bong Connection’

MUMBAI: Video on demand (VoD) platform SonyLIV has launched a new web series ‘The Big Bong Connection’ in partnership with Mojo Productions. The episodic show is written by Chandroday Pal and Saptarshi Majumdar and produced by Joy B Ganguly.

This web series explores the Kolkata of today – a cosmopolitan concoction of dreams, passion, cultural nuances and confusions. This concoction is what makes the Bengali culture and traditions hilarious yet fascinating to study as one that is always developing, growing and adapting in every way to the changing trends of this modern world.

The primary cast includes Ridhima Ghosh, Shamaun Ahmed, Mithu Chakrabarty, Punya Darshan Gupta, Rii Sen, Debopriyo MukherjeeMaya Rachel McManus & Soumyadeep Bubbla Bhattacharya. Music is by Shibasish Banerjee with songs sung by Nikhita Gandhi and Surjo Bhattacharjee.

Sony Pictures Networks India business head digital Uday Sodhi said, “With increasing digital viewership, it’s imperative to offer content that’s intriguing and cuts across age groups and languages. The Big Bong Connection reinstates our promise of effective storytelling and presenting something unique with each property. This coming of age story intends to engage modern-day consumers about culture and relationships.”

Mojo Films producer Joy B Ganguly added, “We are excited to be partnering with SonyLIV (on this web series. The Big Bong Connection cuts across all demographics targeting the user base of youth, women and other netizens. Going ahead we will focus more on creating digital entertainment content – customized experiences – be it regional, national or international.”

Saptarshi Majumdar, Director & Co-writer of this web series, said, “The Big Bong Connection is the perfect ‘Bangali tadka’ to a quintessential romantic comedy. In our show, all the primary characters get their space to perform, with their bit of goof-ups and fun. It has a simplicity in form and treatment that would be a fun ride to watch.”
